The Instant Gratification Device
This installation is a fabricated artefact, a 2.0 IKEA readymade. The Instant Gratification Device (IGD) itself is a small mechanism, fitted onto a chair in the exhibition space. As one steps or sits onto the receiving surface, the pressure applied triggers applauding sounds, coming out of the chair. First, the cheering, whistling sounds emerge quietly from under the surface, slowly gaining in volume- until one feels entertained enough to stand up and get on with one's life.
